Fernando Rocha is a Mexican-American cinematographer based in Queens, NY. He approaches each project with the belief that every story asks to be understood before it can be photographed, developing a visual language unique to the needs of each film. Whether observational or highly stylized, his work is guided by the same commitment to curiosity, collaboration, and care.

In 2026, The Boys and the Bees, for which Fernando served as cinematographer, received the Jury Award for Best Nonfiction Short at the Sundance Film Festival. He is a 2023 PBS Ignite x Creative Voices Fellow, a 2022 Sundance x Adobe Ignite Fellow, and a 2022 Southern Exposure Film Fellow. His work has screened at festivals including Sundance, DOC NYC, Big Sky, and DC/DOX.

Fernando graduated from American University, where he was a Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholar. Before discovering cinematography, he spent over fifteen years performing Mexican folklórico dance, an experience that continues to shape the way he approaches his work.
